To strengthen our IT development team we are currently looking for a new colleague.
Your major duties / key responsabilities
You perform independently programming tasks within the development of in-house Geo-Spatial and Web applications and contribute to the optimisation of the internal IT-based business processes.
The editing and maintenance of metadata is part of your responsibilities as well as the procurement, quality assurance and preparation of weather, satellite and other geo-spatial data to be transferred in an Oracle database and processed into remote sensing and geo-spatial products.
Furthermore, with your expertise you support the team in all IT issues and develop solutions to meet the information needs of our customers.
Your qualifications
On the basis of a university degree in computer science, geo-informatics, business informatics or similar fields, you have a sound knowledge of relational databases, in particular Oracle including SQL and PL/SQL and practical experience in application development in a Java and Web environment.
Ideally, you are familiar with the processing of raster images as well as with the processing of geo-spatial data with tools like PCI Geomatica, GDAL library and Oracle Spatial/GeoRaster API. Knowledge in the application and implementation of the current OGC standards and experience with UML modeling perfects your profile.
Alternatively however you are willing and able to learn fast in the field of processing and analysing Geo-Spatial data. Beside German or English, we would greatly appreciate if you could speak and write another foreign language i.e. your mother tongue.
You are highly motivated and able to work independently in a multi-cultural and cross-functional team. You possess strong analytical skills, accuracy in work, creativity and an innovative approach in developing and improving systems and processes.
