Our applications provide our customers with better market overviews, shorter innovation cycles and significant economic benefits.
To strengthen our research and development team we are currently looking for a new colleague.
Your major duties
You use and further develop models which explain the development of field and vegetable crops. You focus on crop development at worldwide locations and check the effects of the various factors on plant growth thanks to your sound agricultural knowledge. You define the parameters required for the monitoring of plant growth and test new model types. For this purpose, you develop and supervise the processing methods required for the interpretation of low and high resolution satellite and aerial images in the optical and radar range.
Furthermore, you take care of the management of weather, satellite and other spatial data. You collect it, control and ensure its quality and prepare it to be transferred in an Oracle database.
With your agricultural expertise, you also support the team in all agricultural issues and develop solutions to meet the information needs of our customers.
Your qualifications
You have a College or university degree in agronomy or related discipline of agricultural or field science such as plant physiology, for example, or comparable background. You bring profound agricultural knowledge and ideally have first experiences in the development of plant growth models.
It would be of advantage if you had some experiences in the analyses of satellite images (PCI Geomatica). Alternatively however you are willing and able to learn in this new field fast. Beside German or English, we would greatly appreciate if you could speak and write another foreign language i.e. your mother tongue.
You are highly motivated and able to work independently in a multi-cultural and cross-functional team. You possess strong analytical skills, accuracy in work, creativity and an innovative approach in developing and improving systems and processes.
Our offer
Within a highly professional team we offer you the exciting challenge of applying your knowledge and abilities in the worldwide developing field of information services for agriculture purposes, as well as of being able to develop your knowledge and skills and so remain in the front line of technological progress.
We welcome and integrate you in a top-performing and highly motivated non-smoking team. The solutions you develop with SBI will by far count among the most innovative in the line.
